Banner Committee Profile Study I. The mission of the Altar & Banner Committee of Augustana Lutheran Church is to coordinate the worship area with appropriate paraments and banners for the seasons of the church year. II. MINISTRY OF THE ALTAR & BANNER COMMITTEE 1. Parament placement for the proper season and candle set up and replacement as needed – includes cleaning and polishing. 2. Banner placement when required and for the proper seasons. 3. Christmas decorating – tree – Chrismons, plant and tree watering, etc. Easter set up and decoration – garden setting, plant care, etc. 4. Order candles, communion wafers, communion cards, etc. III.
1. Determine need for new banner, purchase of materials and supplies, and construction. 2. Categorize al banners in cabinet. We also have small advent banners and Gold/Red banners for Chancel placement. 3. A baptismal banner is made for each new member on Baptism Day. Banner supplies are furnished for each confirmand as they make their own banner for that day. IV. GOALS 1. Altar Committee: Storage of all supplies- candles, communion ware on upper level with easy access to altar. 2. Switching from candles to oil sticks, which was a memorial gift in March, 2005 3. Banner committee: More storage space for banners. Making/purchasing banners for Confirmation, Baptism, funerals, and Reformation.

Committee Profile Study I. The Mission of the Worship Committee of Augustana Lutheran Church is to provide a Christ centered service with a variety of formats in worship-learning new hymns, but including the familiar ones. We encourage all to participate by sharing gifts, time, and talents. II. Ministry of the Worship Committee 1. Saturday night (6:00) Contemporary .Communion Service with liturgy and music by Jay
Beech, 2. We offer a Country Gospel Service-liturgy set to Gospel tunes, led by song leader. 3. Thanksgiving Eve
Service ( 4. Mid week Advent services-Wednesday night ( 7:30) with soup and sandwich supper preceding. Liturgy is form Holden Evening Prayer by Marty Haugen. Christmas Eve service (5:00)-traditional family communion service and a candlelight communion service (11:00) with carols and lessons and choir prelude. Christmas Day (10:00) communion service. 5 - Lenten Services-midweek (7:30) using WOV liturgy-Service of Word and prayer. Holy Week services-Maundy Thursday-communion., Good Friday-Tenebrae, Easter Vigil-Affirmation
of Baptism. Easter Sunday-( Easter Breakfast at 7:00 a.m. 6. Mid-summer Service-4th Sunday in June at Clear Country Gospel setting followed by an endowment dinner. Harvest Festival Service in November with potluck to follow. We also have had a Service of Healing and Consecration Sunday Stewardship event. Nursing Home Services are at Lafayette Assisted Living, Winthrop Good Samaritan Home and Southview Living in Gibbon. 7. Choirs-Senior, Sunday School, Star (elementary), and Men's Gospel. We have a Christmas and Easter Cantata. We also have dramas-Treasures from the Attic. 8 Lectors-sign up sheet. We have projection of liturgy and song on screen. We video tape our Saturday and Sunday services which are broadcast on local cable access channel on Mondays. Our Worship committee meets monthly with Pastor to work through worship services. We have been using Sundays and Seasons as our resource. We do have copy rights for a variety of services. III. GOALS 1. Purchase of new video camera. 2. Use Renewing Worship resources for alternative worship. 3. Make necessary repairs to pipe organ. 4. Encourage more instrumentalists to participate in worship. |
