September 2005

Dear Family and Friends of Augustana Lutheran Church.

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus, whose gift of the Holy Spirit lives within us.

September has quickly come upon us and it has produced and will produce many changes.

Mother Nature’s scenery is constantly changing. We are enjoying the fruits and vegetables from our gardens. Our summer days are warm with cool nights in the gradual change from summer to fall. Our fields are beginning to show its final stages and preparation for harvest. This weekend will bring the last days of vacations and a sign of the beginning of school.

For Augustana, Rally Sunday is quickly coming. Sunday School begins at 8:45 a.m. with opening worship and Sunday Worship returns to 10:00 a.m. Our church addition is continuing to take shape and we are now able to “vision” the space as the frames outline the inside of our new structure. We will have to make some modifications for the next few weeks for Sunday School, but we are able.

Our Call Committee has concluded their interviewing of candidates and has recommended to the Church Council a candidate for ministry. His name will be presented to the congregation after our Worship service on September 18th. Please remember to set aside that Sunday for this congregational meeting. Please also remember your candidate and his family in your prayers as he discerns his Call to serve Augustana.

As the candidate for ministry has been presented, the period of interim ministry comes to a close. As the schedule so indicates, my last Sunday with you will be September 25th and ministry concludes on September 30th. My next position will be at St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan. I will begin the first week in October.

Please know that I will continue to remember Augustana in my prayers as you begin your new pastorate. I ask for your prayers for me and your brothers and sisters at St. John during their interim time.

It has been a joy being with you. God’s richest blessings to all.

Pastor Giese
