Recipe for disaster, right?   Yet newcomers to VP D/s often accept the aid of anyone dressed like a Dom.   He's charming and helpful, and she takes his word for what the local laws and customs are, and puts herself completely in his hands.   She accepts his offer to be her "mentor or her "Protector".   Too often her fate resembles that of our foreign traveler.

    Supposing that you are indeed in search of a lover (Master, that is).   What's the sensible way to proceed?

• Be extra cautious until you know your way around.

• Make friends with more experienced travelers and learn from their experience.   Your fellow subs are your very best source of information and counsel.

• Learn the customs.

• Resist any attempt to rush you into anything.

• Inquire about any potential "suitor".

• Expect to take some time getting to know him.

• Know the meanings and terms of any relationship you enter into.

    But,  you may say,  is all this caution necessary?   After all,  this is only vp.   But vp relationships often wash over into real life,  and virtual friendships can elicit real emotions.   Those of us who've been here a while have seen carelessness in vp result in very real pain and suffering.    So have fun, but be careful out there.
