The Great Bay

After jumping the fences, you'll soon end up in the Great Bay. First swim to the small building in the water. Slash the owl statue there. Tatl will soon notice a flock of seagulls circling over something. Swim over there to find a Zora. Push the Zora to shore and he will tell you that he is The Indigo-Go's (the band that's supposed to play at the Carnival) guitarist, Mikau. Mikau will sing to you of how he tried to recover the missing Zora eggs from the pirates but failed. Play him the Song of Healing and Mikau will pass away. And you will inherit the Zora Mask, which lets you inhabit Mikau's body.

If you read Mikau's grave, you'll learn about some of his techniques. Swim over to the building in the water again and talk to the man inside. The professor will tell you he needs the Zora eggs so they can hatch. The ocean has suddenly become hot recently and the eggs cannot survive without his care.

Zora Hall

Go back onto shore, and turn back into Link and get on Epona (it's a lot safer when you're on Epona). Go through the arch on the western side of the beach. Then jump into the water as a Zora and defeat all the Skull Fish and Like Likes on your way. When you get inside, keep on the Zora Mask and everyone there will think you're really Mikau.

You can do a few things will you're in here. And you could get a Heart Piece here too (look in my Pieces of Heart section). First, find your way to the back exit of Zora Hall. You will see Lulu, voiceless. Strike the owl statue there. Now that you're done here go back to the main part of the bay and swim east. When you find a Zora in the water, swim around the corner south of him and dive to the bottom. Roll underwater and break the wodden boards second from the left.

OPTIONAL: Warp back to Clocktown and buy some Red Potion at the Trading Post. Leave Clocktown through the Eastern exit and call Epona. Ride her into Ikana. When you get to a strange looking man who asks you to wear a certain mask, get off and use the Lens of Truth on a nearby circle of stones. You will see a soldier. Give him the Red Potion and he will give the Stone Mask in return. The Stone Mask lets you past most enemies completely unnoticed. Very handy for the Pirates' Fortress.

Pirates' Fortress

When no boats are near, dive into the water as Mikau. Then swim over to the underwater ramp in the north half of the water. Wait when there are no boats and run up to the switch. Then Goron pound the switch to open an underwater gate, which is near the south end of the water. Swim over there and go inside.

The first thing you'll have to do is a block maze. Smash through the wooden board, then pull the block into the corner backwards. Smash through two more wodden boards and then push the block foward to swim to the end of the maze. In the area, when you see the current walk underwater and avoid the mines. Go through the door and carefully swim around the mines, then climb up on the surface. You can get the Heart Piece by smashing barrels as a Goron to uncover a switch, then quickly tun back into Link and put on the Bunny Hood to reach the Piece before the door closes.

Then run up the ramp and hit the crystal switch by using Mikau's boomerang fins and quickly swim through the waterway that opened. Avoid more mines and avoid the current by swimming along the surface. In the next room, turn back into Link and climb the ladder. Step on the switch to reveal a crystal switch on the wall. Before the switch you stepped on deactivates, quickly postion yourslef on top of the drain, and then shoot the crystal switch your bow. A geyser will sprout up and carry you to the telescope room. Take a look around and notice which door the telescope has pointed to. Exit by hitting the mines with Mikau's boomerang fins so they hit each other and explode. And you will see the switch the opens the exit.

Go through the door and you'll end up outside. Go up the ramp to get the main part of the Fortress. You need to get up the ladder but there are a bunch of Gerudos guarding the area. If you have the Stone Mask you can easily pass them unnoticed. If you don't you must shoot them with arrow to paralize them for a moment. Once you get up the ladder, shoot the one pirate at the top with an arrow and go through the door. You will watch a small cut-scene and then shoot an arrow through the bars to knock down a beehive. The Gerudos will run out. Exit the door you entered from and jump down the level to your right. Go through that door and open the chest to get the Hookshot. Use the hookshot to reel up to the wooden beam above the tank. As a Zora, put the Zora egg in a bottle.

You need four bottles for the fortress. If you don't have four warp back to the Marine Reserach Lab and drop them in the tank. And since you have the hookshot, after you get up to the switch where you must Goron pound it, look for a Hookshot target on the wall to get back to main part of the fortress.

Now go back to where you entered the main part of the fortress and look to the left. You'll see a Hookshot pillar. Turn around a grapple onto the next. Go through and hit with an arrow (if you have the Stone Mask, you can just walk up to Gerudos and slash them with your swrrd!). Put on the Bunny Hood and run over there. Through the next door you have to fight a Pirate. In about two or three hits she'll vanish and the door will open. In the next room, Hookshot up to the wood on the ceiling. First shoot a few arrows at the enemy in there then, as Mikau dive into the water and get the Zora Egg.

Exit and go back to the entrance of the main part of the fortress. Once again, Hookshot up to the Hookshot pillar and hookshot to the next. But this time, turn around and grapple onto the next hookshot pillar. Hit any Gerudos on the way and go through the door. You can knock out the two Gerudos to open the chest with 100 Rupees or you could Hookshot up to the door. Through this door is another pirate, fight like the last one and go through the newly opened door. Get the Zora Egg in the tank.

Go back to the entrance of the main part of the fortress and make your way to the other side. Hookshot up to the next hookshot pillar and the next. Go through the left entryway. Sneak your way through the next door. And fight the last pirate. Fight her the same way as the previous ones. Go through the door and get the Zora egg. But before leaving the fortress, take a picture of one them. And make sure it's a good one. Warp back to the lab and dump the Zora Eggs into the tank.

Pinnacle Rock

Now go back onto land and into the Fisherman's Hut. Show him the picture of the pirate, and he will lead you the sea horse. The Sea Horse wants to be taken back to Pinnacle Rock. Pinnacle Rock is the two large stone pillars you'll find in the eastern area of the Great Bay. Swim in between the two pillars to enter the area. Release the sea horse and follow it through the murky waters. And soon you'll reach a large hole.

Dive down into the hole and defeat ALL the sea snakes that pop out of the tunnels. Three of those sea snakes happen to be guarding the three remaining Zora eggs. If you defeat all of them you will reunite the Sea Horse and lover, and you will receive a heart piece.

Now that you have the three Zora eggs, warp back to the lab and dump the eggs into the tank with the others. The seven eggs will hatch and will teach you The New Wave Bossa Nova. Warp back to Zora Cape and as Mikau, play The New Wave Boss Nove to Lulu to return her voice and the nearby island will reveal itself to be a large turtle. Turn back into Link and Hookshot on the turtle's back to reach Great Bay Temple.

Great Bay Temple

Go through the door to enter the 1st Main Room. Turn into Mikau and dive into the water. Swim to the northeast part of the room. Push the underwater yellow valve and then swim back to the entrance of this room. Take the right elevator and defeat the Skulltulas on the next platform. When the fountain of water sprays up, jump on and wait for it to go up again so you may jump onto the next platform. Go through the door into the 2nd Main Room.

In this room, dive in the water and try to get to the yellow/green passageway in the upper right (it's halfway down). You'll be taken to a new room. Surface and get on a platfrom. Turn back into Link and use your Hookshot on the chest. Open the chest to get the Map. Dive back into the water as a Zora and look for the passageway with the two skinny hands (Dexihands). Don't try to go through the passage. First, Z-Target them and use the Zora Boomerangs to defeat both of them. Now you can safely go through the passageway.

Now you'll be taken to a hall with Bio Deku Babas. Defeat them all, surface, and go through the door. Turn back into Link and shoot the Real Bombchu across from you with an arrow. Jump on the small platforms to reach the other side (be careful not to fall in the water) and open the chest for the Compass. Now turn into Mikau and jump into the water (hug the wall). Defeat the Dexihand then defeat the Bio Deku Babas that were under the small platforms. Then open the new chest for a Small Key.

Leave this room by jumping into the left waterway next to the door you came in. You'll be taken back to the 2nd Main Room. Dive all the way to the bottom and go through the passageway with a single red pipe and next to some glowing blue vents. You'll be taken to a huge room. Avoid the Shellblades and run to the other side of the room. Surface and walk along the red pipe. But defeat the Real Bombchu first. Go through the door and stock up. You'll need for the next battle.

Go through the next door and look at the ceiling. Wart will fall down ready to fight. First, use a Fire Arrow to lure out the purple bubbles that surround him. Take out as many bubbles as you can until you have a clearshot of his eye. Take out normal arrow and shoot as eye with them. Once the bubbles are gone, Wart will start crashing around the room. Get into a corner so he can't get to you. Continue shooting him in the eye. If you run out of arrows, use the Hookshot or if you're really lucky, if he gets close to your corner use a spin attack on him. Once he's defeated you claim the Ice Arrows.

Reutrn to the room with the red pipe and stand on a platform that faces an Octorok. Shoot an ice arrow at it and it will freeze into an ice block. Use this to jump onto the valve. Push the valve and as Mikau, dive into the water and find a small bluish vent. You'll be taken back to the 2nd Main Room. Surface and climb up a ladder. Jump onto one of the blades that spin around the room and then climb up on a skinny walkway. Use the ice arrows to freeze the waterfall. Climb the ladder to the next room. In the next room, Hookshot onto one of the barrels then using the ice arrow shoot the water to make small ice platfroms to reach the valve. Be quick and aim right before the ice platforms melt. Turn the green vavle.

Exit this room by going the same way you came in. Jump back into the water as a Zora and find the passageway that took you to the map room. Once you're back in the map room, surface onto a platform. Fire your Ice Arrows on the water to make ice platforms to reach the far platform. Once there, go through the door. In this room, use the Ice Arrow to freeze the Chuchu and make it into an ice block. Once on the valve, shield the Real Bombchu, and turn the red valve. Now go back to the previous room and use the Dexihand protected passageway to get back to the Compass room.

Once in the Compass room, jump onto the small platforms and using the Ice Arrows, make ice platforms to reach the platform with the ice pillars. Use the Fire Arrow to melt the huge ice block and go through the door to fight the Mad Gekko. First, put on the Bunny Hood. He will run around the room filled with blobs. Touch the blobs, you get some damage. Hit the Gekko with your sword and he will call up his blobs and be taken to the ceiling. Run around the room so when he falls you don't get caught. Staying in a corner will not help. If you touch the blob mass you'll get sucked in and the Mad Gekko will give you a few punches. When it escapes to the ceiling, take out your Ice Arrow and shoot the blob (it won't work if the blob is falling). The blob will freeze and shatter and you must hit the Gekko again. Repeat until he's dead. Go through the unbarred door to get the Boss Key.

Play the Song of Soaring to get back to the entrance of the Temple. Go into the 1st Main Room. Go up the right elevator and get to the other platform. But don't go into the second main room. Instead look to the left to see a red fountain. Use the hookshot to grapple onto the high Hookshot target to get on the fountain. When the fountain is at it's highest, jump onto the red valve, and keep on turning it until you see that the main yellow fountain is off and the main red fountain is on (there will be a small cut scene to show you). Go back to the second main room and dive down into the water. Look for a passageway that's red and halfway down. Swim quickly and hug the right wall.

You'll soon end up in a room with a huge watermill. Climb the only platform available and take the elevator up and unti the watermill. Before they spin you of into the water, jump onto the moving platform. The moving platform will take you to the other side. Walk to the end of the ledge and take out the Ice Arrow. Use the Ice Arrow to freeze the water, stoping the watermill. Using the blades, walk over to the other side. In the next room, are three seesaws. Ignore the one in front of you. Walk over to the back seesaw. get onto the side you can stand on and use the Fire Arrow to go up. Then jump onto the seesaw next to you. Use the Fire Arrow to go up and leap over to the green switch. Now go back to the seesaw that was ignored. Use the Fire Arrow again and jump to the platform there. Go through the door.

Now you're back in the Map room. Go through the passageway we used to use to get in here (remember, the water is moving backwards). You'll be back in the 2nd Main Room. Sink to the bottom and go into the red passageway with a single green pipe. Walk up the green pipe and turn the green valve and a fountain will sprout out. Use it to get to the Boss Door.

Gargantuan Masked Fish GYORG

Gyorg only needs a few hits, but he is pain. He will ram into the platform you landed on, trying to knock you off into the water. So stay in the middle at all costs. Sometimes he'll trying jumping out of the water to knock you off. But once he's landed back into the water, shoot him with an arrow and quickly dive into the water as Mikau and use the Zora's Electical Attack. After Gyorg's hit, quikcly swim back onto the platform before he manages to get you into his mouth. When he releases small fish, you know he's almost finsihed.

Great Bay Fairies

1) In the very first room with the turtle, light the four torches to reveal a chest.
2) In the 1st Main Room, take the left elevator onto the plaform. Defeat the Skulltula for the fairy.
3) 1st Main Room, from where you entered, look under the platform.
4) 2nd Main Room, as a Goron, smash a barrel on the western side of the room.
5) In the Map room, surface onto a platform. Use the Hookshot to break the vases on another platform, then use the Great Fairy's Mask.
6) In the passageway with the Deku Babas, defeat all of them including one on the ceiling to reveal another chest.
7) In the 2nd Main room, you may have noticed a pot in the very center. Use the Zora Boomerang, it may take a few tries.
8) In the room where you had use the ice arrows to create ice platforms to reach a green valve, while on the yellow platform, make an ice platform and look at the ceiling for a Hookshot target. Now that you know where it is, return to the yellow platform, make another ice platfrom and Hookshot up there. Remember you need to hit the Hookshot target an at angle.
9) When you first enter the Compass Room, look to your right. Use the Hookshot to break the pot then use the Grea Fairy's Mask.
10) In the watermill room, when you are on the moving platform, look for a torch on a ledge. Hookshot onto the torch to get to a chest.
11) Also in the watermill room, after you've stopped the watermill, walk over to the other side and Hookshot onto the chest.
12) There's a fairy underneath the first seesaw, use the Fire Arrow to lift the seesaw and dive down with the Zora Mask.
13) In the seesaw room, as a Zora walk along the green pipe until you see a gold fence under you. Jump down, behind the fence and open the chest.
14) In the same room as the final green valve, look for a fairy in a bubble near a waterway. Use your Zora Boomerangs to burst the bubble first.
15) Also in the same room as the final green valve, look under the valve.

The Great Fairy's Gift: Double Defense (also a must get)
The fairy fountain is located to the left of Zora Hall. Look for a small series of islands and island hop using the Hookshot. Then use the Blast Mask or bombs to blow up the boulders, revealing the entrance.

After Defeating Gyrog

Once again, you have freed another of the mysterious beings and the Great Bay's waters will become it's regular temperature again. Go back into Zora Hall and get ready for a practice Jam Session.

Now you can also go back to the main part of the Great Bay and swim east. Near the Like Like is a boat. Hop into the boat to get a small ride to the Fisherman's Jumping Game. Hookshot onto an upcoming palm tree and talk to him to play.

Now save and ge ready for Ikana Canyon...
