| Info on these pages applies to PC's under Windows 95. It may or may not be helpful to those using other machines or operating systems. |
What and Why:
Virtual Places may possibly be your first experience on a personal computer.
You can chat and maneuver about without knowing much at all
about the machine, but sooner or later you'll want to store avatars, sort out
gestures, or save dialog.
Well, there's no better way to learn than to have something you want to do,
and go do it. These pages are meant to help you get started doing exactly
that. They describe, click by click, how to do some simple operations on
a PC using the Windows 95 operating system. And in the course of
doing these things you'll see enough of Windows operations to try out some
other functions as well.
So choose the operation you need, below, and then click on the colored
phrase. Have Fun!
Some Simple Operations:
Moving or Copying Files
Often, something is not in the folder where you need it.
Opening a Folder.
The stuff on your PC is
organized into Folders. To open a folder is to create a
"window" where you can see what's there, and get at it.
Finding a Folder (or Anything).
Of course, being able to open a folder is of no value unless
you can find out what folder the thing you want is in. But Windows can
help you find it, if you know how.
Creating a New Folder
When a folder gets too crowded, dividing up the contents may be in order.
