Making a New Folder

Creating a new folder is a simple, straightforward process.    First, open the folder within which you intend to place the new one.    (If you intend to make a new main folder on a disk simply open that disk.)

Click on File and then on New.   Or, alternatively, type Alt_f and then n.   Then, on the drop-down that comes up, click on Folder (or type f.)   This will create a new folder, named (surprise) New Folder.

The file title New Folder should be highlighted and inside a white- bordered box, as in the figure above.   This means that the label is readyto be revised -- just hit Delete or Backspace and then type in the label desired.   If the title is not marked in this way, then click on the folder so that it is marked, wait two or three seconds (so that Windows doesn't think you're double-clicking) and then click on the file title.   The title should now be ready for editing.

So now you have it -- a new file, empty but ready for you to fill.
