Prologue: For those of you who have heard of the most exalted Ash Ketchem this is the story of Colin Rice a trainer from a few years before Ash. Who is now a close friend only to Bill, Prof. Oak, Mr. Psychic, Mr. Fuji, and the so-called Weedle Guy in Viridian City but unknown to all of the outside world.


Chapter 1

Watching TV I saw that Prof. Oak and Bill planned to start of some pokemon trainers with their choice of either a Charmander a Bulbasaur or a Squirtle. Of course I would pick a Charmander I thought. I looked to my clock and decided that the early bird gets the worm and went to bed.
That night after I went to sleep there was a break-in at the pokemon laboratory. The problem was the lab was top secret and no info got to the public. About an hour later Prof. Oak had a mysterious visitor who wore a black cloak that draped to the floor. He gave a package to Prof. Oak and told him to give it to the first poke trainer who came through that door.

Chapter 2

To my surprise that morning I came through that door and got not a Charmander but a package containing ten regular looking pokeballs only instead of red and white they were a metallic rainbow colored on all sides. There were also a pokedex with a built in learning device and a memory capacity of up to three hundred different species of pokemon. I thought there were only a hundred or so? And the last thing in the package was a pokeball with the psychic symbol on it. Wow a psychic pokemon they are powerful. But what could it be? Who would have thought a kid like me, Colin Rice, would have this much luck on the first day.
I thanked the Prof. And left to begin my journey.

Chapter 3

I bade my parents good-bye and took start on my trip. My supplies were 30,000P , my backpack full of my stuff from the Prof.,3 Stuff-Balls (my own invention), plenty of clothes, twenty boxes of stick matches, a rain tarp, a 3 person tent, a hatchet , some string, a funny little inflatable boat about 6 feet wide, ten rolls of duct tape, some candy, some pokemon food , a pocketknife , a sleeping bag (one extra in case one gets wet) , also an extra backpack for any emergencies. Now I am ready I’ll go. First I’ll start in Pallet Forest. There should be plenty of pokemon there. Not to mention there is a pokemon-center near the other side of it.
About ten steps in I remembered I forgot to see what my pokemon was. "Pokeball go," I yelled as I threw the first (normal) pokeball. To my surprise there was nothing in it. I went through this process until I remembered the cool psychic pokeball. "Pokeball go," I yelled again out popped a something or rather. I popped out my pokedex and it told me it was a Mew! Wow I am so lucky a Mew for my first pokemon. Oh and look at this it’s number is 151 on the list which means I have at least 150 to catch. Yikes that’s a lot!!!!! I didn’t have much time to act because it pounced on me and ?Started purring ??? Well it sounded like a sound of joy at least, and it seemed to like me too. We didn’t have much time to celebrate because an orange colored Mew popped out of the bushes. I quickly put Mew in it’s pokeball. Suddenly a bunch of other Mews popped out too. They were every other you could think of. Then the lead Mew made a sign with it’s hands and I was caught in a daze.

Chapter 4

I awoke in a strange cave surrounded by strange creatures that looked like round blue balls with black crooked tails with a ball on the end. They reminded me of that pika thing what ever it was. The funny thing was they didn’t see me wake up. The cave had torches every here or there that lit the room well. I opened my backpack which was luckily with me and grabbed Mew’s pokeball I released it and it was empty. Quickly I opened my pokedex to find out who the culprit’s friends were and once again to my surprise there was a black screen with yellow lines a white P and a red T. I looked at the T and the lines around it and then looked at the room to my surprise once again they matched. That must mean I’m here and the "T" is for trainer. This must be a map of the cave. And there is a perfect trail leading to the P which must be pokemon. Now to follow the map. When I came to my destination I found my Mew on a grand throne with all the colored Mews bowing to it as if it were royalty. Another strange thing were only colored Mews and no pure white ones like mine. Then my Mew saw me and jumped on me. This time it didn’t knock me down but hugged me and stayed clung to my neck, and it was pointing to the wall by the throne. On the wall was a picture of a prophecy held by the Mews by great colored gemstones that told the story of a black Mew known as the Dark-Mew which is mean to the Mews by eating all their food stores draining their water and worse yet Mew-napping their children. The prophesy also told of a pure white Mew who battles the demon Mew with his unknown friend and forever save the Mew Clan. The chief of the Mews in this story is said to give his daughter to the brave Mew as a reward. But where would I find this (dark) Mew? That question didn’t take long because he walked into the room looking meaner than the pictures.

Chapter 5

This Mew did look mean and it had a mean glow in it’s eyes. No wonder the other Mews were scared. "Mew, Go" I yelled as my Mew leapt into action. "Mew psychic-attack, Now." "Meeeeewwwwww!!!!!" "What," I thought it didn’t seem to harm him," Ermmm, Mew pound." "Mew." "He’s to strong," I said," I know. Mew tell all the other Mews to use psychic on him at the same time." "Me?" "Mess Mew." "Umm I mean, yes you" "Me. Mew-ma-me. Meeeee-ew. Mewwwww." "Mew" yelled the crowd of Mews. "Di-di-da-da-do-di." Was the loud noise herd. Then the Dark-Mew used a pound at my Mew almost knocking it out Then as if it would never happen the Dark-Mew fainted. "Better not take any chances," I whispered to myself," pokeball, go!" I’m not sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing but I caught it. Now I can send it to Prof. Oak and tell him never to open it again.
Hey I almost forgot, now I get another Mew. "Mew ask about the reward." "Me-me-ma-ma-me-ma-mew-ew-ew-wew-emwe. Emwe-emwa-mew." "Mew-emwe-ewm-mem-ew." said the orange mew. "Mew what did he say?" "Mew-emwe-eww-mew-ew-mewma." "You mean we can bring that cute pink Mew over there and catch anything in this cave?" "Mew." "tell him "thank you" ." "Mew-emwe."

Chapter 6

"Mew ask that blue thing if he wants to join us." "Eme-emwe-ew." "Ka-blue-pi-pi-ka-blue." "Is that a yes." "Mew," answered my Mew. Better see what he is. I thought pulling out my pokedex. "Pikablue a mouse pokemon. This pokemon is related to the Pikachu. This pokemon is not electric though it is a true blue water-pokemon." "That’s weird." "Bluuuuuuuue." It yelled with a madish look. "Oh not you it’s that it used to only type it on the screen." "Ka-blue" it said with a pleased look. "Well the map says there is an opening this way." "Mew-me-mew" said the pink Mew which I named Mewla, Which means "Beautiful gem" in Mew, and I named the cave the Me-Me cave which means "Clan Cave" in Mew. As we left the cave we noticed an egg I decided to bring it with me. I put it in my extra backpack and told Mewla to sit on it thinking it would hatch and be a good motherly experience for her.

Chapter 7

"Where are we?" I said. "Me ew-me?" Mew answered. "No information listed in pokedex, I , Dexter shall try to make a topographical map for you." beeped Dexter my Pokedex. "Thanks Dexter." Looking around I notice a small shrub out pops a Pikachu. I would have jumped up and tried to catch it but it hopped at me. I never thought anything could be so curious until it reached into my backpack pulled out a pokeball and looked at me pointed to itself, pointed to the pokeball and started jumping for joy. "Umm Mew ask Pikachu over there if he wants to join us." "Mew" "Eme-emwe-ew" "Pi-pi-ka-chu." "Ha, ha, ha, hey Mew if we keep doing this we may never even use a pokeball."
As the day went on we found a fresh water stream. Being lost and tired we decided to camp.

Chapter 8

I discovered a tree leaning on a huge bolder at a 35° angle. The bolder had a deep "U" in it which I made a small fire in, and I hung up the rain tarp with some branches and the tree because some dark clouds were rolling in.
It got dark and as soon as it was night-time the rain started to fall. I ate some candy and it sank in my stomach like a rock. It did not hit the spot. I was feeding Mew, Mewla, Pikablue and Pikachu they seemed to be doing well. Mew laid his head on my tummy to go to sleep but immediately sprung his head up. He whispered something to the other three. Pikablue said something and Mew started smiling, but Mewla seemed to be disagreeing. Suddenly Mew, Pikachu and Pikablue jumped out into the woods and rain. Mewla stayed with her egg and I was glad she didn’t desert me. I though somehow this might actually be for the best and I prayed that it wasn’t for the worst. I went to sleep hoping for the best.

Chapter 9

That morning when the sun began to poke at my dreams I was awoken by none other than Mew, Pikachu, and Pikablue they had an odd looking hand (paw) woven basket filled past the rim with blackberries, wild strawberries, raspberries, wild grapes, and acorns. They weren’t deserting me they just wanted to help. Well I owed them big and decided that today they would get to do what ever they wanted. All of the sudden Dexter started beeping. I opened him up and He said "Topographic map complete and I’m picking up some electro-magnetic activity coming just a half mile to the west. "So do you guys want to check it out" I asked my poke-friends. "Pika-chuuu" "Ka-blue" "Me" "Mew" It was a confidant Yes.

Chapter 10

We found an "abandoned" power plant it was over-run by wild pokemon. We saw plenty of Magnemite, Voltorb, and Electrode. We got the info on all of them by just asking about them and that added a lot to my pokedex. We gained info on Voltorb, Electrode, Magnemite, Magneton, Electabuzz, extra info on Pikachu, and some on Raichu. We kept moving through the plant until we came to a dark corridor at the end of it we found a giant steel door it looked like it would never budge to a bulldozer. Wondering if any one or anything was in there I knocked. "Boom" the door fell down right in front of us and inside was an egg.

Chapter 11

It was a light-brownish color and bigger than me. Mew and the gang huddled around it. Mew tapped it but nothing happened. So crazy little Pika gave it a little zap (not much maybe only 27 volts) but it did something the egg started exploding with lightning. A pointy bird came out zapping in a rage. I popped out Dexter and He said it was a Zapdos. Wow I think it would be cool to have a Zapdos. "Mew ask it if it wants to join us" "Me Me-ew emwe-mew" "Zapdos" It screeched as it thundered lightning bolts at us all. "Me mew-emmew ( He said "I would rather rot") " my mew told me. " Mew I guess we’ll have to battle it" I yelled. Mew leapt into action. "Mee Mew Me-ewme" he yelled to me. "What do you mean, you want to do it yourself" "Mew" "OK, go ahead" Mew started jumping at it and slapping it hard with its tail. It just kept flying. So Mew used Psychic and Zapdos was hurtled to the wall. It became mad and you could tell he was P.O.ed. He started swooping at Mew and pecking him so Mew turned into a Ditto. How could my beautiful Mew be a Ditto. I popped out Dexter to see if it was true. Dexter said Mew used his attack Transform and turned into Ditto to confuse the Zapdos. That was a relief because I liked my Mew. Next my Mew turned into a Zapdos and started pecking the other Zapdos. I couldn’t tell which was which. Suddenly one fainted and the other transformed back into my Mew Said something and pretended to throw a pokeball. "Oops I almost forgot. Pokeball go" I yelled as I hurtled a pokeball at the fainted critter. It was contained in the ball but it kept shaking and I may have to try capturing it in a ball again. Lightning bolts came out of the ball and filled the room with light. Suddenly it stopped. I caught a Zapdos!

Chapter 12

I popped open Dexter to see if we could get out of here and he said there was a go-cart parked in the front and we could ride it to town. The town was unknown but anywhere was okay. I asked the guys if they wanted to go and Mew said "Mew Me Ewww" (sure, but) "Me-Me Emwe Mew" ( lets go in style ). The go-cart didn’t look to good. It was all beat up, it needed a new paint job, and a new look. The plant was still under construction and there was some pretty good paint, plenty of building materials, nice tools, blueprint materials too. So we started working. We call it the "Mach 1". We can hit 60mph, but if we engage the emergency boost we can get 100mph. We slowly went through the forest until suddenly someone yelled out "Help".

Chapter 13

I hightailed it in that direction jumped out of the Mach threw a Stuff-Ball at it and came to a girl. A Caterpie was right in front of her and she seemed to not like bugs. She was scared and screaming loud. So I threw a pokeball and got it. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." she said as she hugged me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "Who are you" I asked. "You know Gary Oak’s sister May" "Hhmmmm, Gary Oak, Gary Oak, O’ Yeah I know the one who everyone thinks is pretty" "Yeah, have you ever seen her" "No, not personally" "Well I’m Her" "No way, they said she was pretty.." "Hey Buster you got some nerve.." "...Not Beautiful" "Thanks," May said starting to blush" Well what are you doing out here" "What are you?" "Some of my friends dared me, I thought it would be a piece of cake but it’s scary here. What about you" "I’m training pokemon, by the way I’m Colin" "O’ cool can I see them" "It depends if they want to or not" "Well, okay" "I’ll ask " I said going behind a big tree" I let Mew out and started to ask but she came around the tree and grabbed Mew. "He’s so cute, can I pet him" "You might want to put him down just encase he doesn’t like you" I told her as she held him. I looked at Mew he was enjoying his time with his new friend. "What did you name him" "I didn’t name him yet. I just call him Mew" "Than how will you tell him from all the other Mews" "First of all I think he’s the only pure white one, second he’s my friend and you don’t just forget your friend as if he were yesterdays news" "It’s a start" "Not to sound rude or anything but do you have any other pokemon" "Well for a start there’s Pikablue and Pikachu here. Hey where’d they go" There was a rumble in the bushes next to us and out popped Chu and Blue. Each had a little thing wrapped in leaves. They gave them to May. "Are these for me" May asked. "Pi-Pi-ka-chu" "Ka-Bluuuuuu" "Should I open them?" She asked them They nodded their heads. She opened the presents. The first was from Pikachu it was a little red rock that seemed to be in the shape of a heart. "Thank you" she said as she kissed him on the cheek and put the heart carefully in her back pocket. Pikablue butted in and gave her his present. She opened it up and inside was a little shiny stone with a leather string. "It’s beautiful" she said as she put it on. Pikablue made a face at Chu and as she came over to talk to me they started quarreling. "They are so cute, do you have any more?" she asked. "Well I have Zapdos here, but he’s kind’a grumpy. But...." "What is it, what is it" "Here’s Mewla" I said throwing out her pokeball. She popped out sitting with her little egg. For some reason girls can’t stay away from babies/eggs. May immediately ran to her. "What’s her name" she asked me. "Mewla" "Does it mean something" "Yep, in the Mew language it means "beautiful gem" " "It’s so pretty" she said to Mewla. "Is this your egg" "Mew" Mewla answered. "Will it hatch soon" "Me-Mew" "I wish I could watch it hatch" "Sorry, May but we kind’a want to get going" "If it’s okay with you could I come with you on your journey" "Well you’d have to pack, and you should try to get a pokemon license so you can maybe catch some pokemon on the way" "I’ll get that done right now" "How" "Well a girl always comes prepared, that’s why the girl scouts motto isn’t "be prepared", because we already know. That’s right you boy scouts got it from us. Anyway I have my laptop right here in my purse and I made a special phone feature." "Nice, so who ya gonna call" "I’m gonna tell my grandpa to let me take the license test and to get one ready for me, and than I’ll tell my mom to get out the camping gear."

Chapter 14

When she was done talking May had a worried look on her face. "What is it" I asked. "Grandpa said he needed my picture for the license and he said that I had to be there in 5 minuets or he’s going to call it off since I’m always joking him about this kind of thing." "Where are we supposed to meet him" "...at his lab" she murmured. "Okay where are we" "About ½mile from town on the East side" "But isn’t the lab.." "On the west side" "Is there a road around here" "Yeah, just up that hill" "Let’s run for it" We ran to the road and about as we reached it I threw my Stuff-a-Ball, so I changed the name. Out popped my "car" "Get in the back" I said. "Okay let’s hurry" "hold on tight." We were going about 50 and I saw a hill I decided to jump it. It was perfect for a jump. I hit the boost and jumped about 20 feet in the air. I was almost floating ,then we started to drop. Mew saw that and quickly jumped in the engine and transformed into a Voltorb and used explosion which sent us to the swamp in back of the Prof.’s lab. May ran inside.

Chapter 15

She came out in an hour with the Prof. He said that she had to run along with me and when she saw a pokemon she wanted she would have me battle it and her throw her pokeball since he was out of pokemon.
"Well that won’t be hard" I said. "Good luck" said the Prof. "Bye Bye Grampy" May screeched. "Yeah Bye Professor!" I answered. "Bye"
"I think we should head back to that hidden valley" she exclaimed. "Right it seems like a whole mythical land. Like for instance Mew is supposed to be only a legend right, and look here he is. Also it is said that Rattata had evolved over time from a swimming water mouse, as did Pikachu, from a water mouse like Pikablue."
" Actually the so-called Pika-Blue is now scientifically named Marril" Chimed my Know-it-all pokedex. "Whatever" May blurted," well what’s your point" "Well my point is remember the legends of the elephant-like creature called Donfan and that dog with clothes Snubble?" "You’re right, but what about the lost city of Pokemopolis, the Golden Bird, the Egg that Cries, and according to my grampy there are over 2000 known encounters in ancient history that have never been solved." She answered. "Hhhhmmmmmmmmmm, hey I have an idea I’ll ask Dexter to tell me all the info on Pokemopolis." I said," Hey Dexte…" "Way ahead of you Colin all info on Pokemopolis is on screen." "Umm, Dexter do you have larger print capabilities?" "Yes but it would be nearly impossible to find decent information with a screen of my size. However, with May’s lap top I could project enough on screen data to be sufficient. Just connect the cord on my back to the inlet on the computer." "Check" May said plugging the cord into the little hole. All of the sudden a whole load of info came onscreen. "Umm Dexter find any map or riddle telling how to get to Pokemopolis." "Okay here is an ancient poem found in Viridian Forrest. Where the ancient city used to be…Through the den of the Mew Clan, past the Crying Egg’s unkempt nest, through the land of ancient beasts, to the Forest of Sky high trees, up the mountain of the Fiery Alter, take a ride on the flying round, than you shall reach the city of wonders." Dexter beeped. "Let’s go for it!"

Chapter 15

"Mew do you know where the Mew Clan cave was?" "Mew" "Can you take us to it" "Mew ma ma mew" I heard a strange Whheeeoouuu-wwwhhheeeeooouuu. And we were teleported instantly. "What the" May said when we got there. "Okay now we have to find the Crying Egg’s unkempt nest." I said "Colin, can I see Mewla’s egg?" "Sure" I reached into the backpack and May almost started crying. "That’s it" she screeched in joy Suddenly one of her tears hit the egg and suddenly a swirling pool of light surrounded the egg and a little heart was somehow printed on the egg. The light disappeared and the egg started to hatch. One arm popped out, than another, the first leg than the next. Last the head popped out, but it was flat. Than it bloomed or something and you could see a little birth mark on it’s face, a heart? Next it opened it’s eyes. "Priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" "It’s sooo coooooooooooooottttttttttttttt" said May, by the way that was (cute). "Me Me Me" said Mewla. "Togepi an Egg pokemon, specific information about pokemon is still unavailable." Beeped Dexter. "Cootchy Cuchy Coo" said May tickling it. "Chokay Chokeeee" "Ohhhh it’s so cute." "Mew" "Oh here you are Mewla" May said handing Togepi to Mewla. "Meeee" The egg looked at Mewla than at May, back at Mewla back at May, than suddenly started crying, so Mewla gave it back to May. "When Togepi hatches it is implanted on the first thing is sees." Beeped dexter once again. "I get it thinks your it’s mother" I said. To Be continued........
